Hanyang University's Department of Dance and Performing Arts was established in 1981 to keep pace with rising demand, and to also train experts in creative art as well as artists who can go on to perform all over the world. To that end it offers specialized art education programs in preparation for the future society, and programs that can help students art experts or dance instructors.
As part of field training program imbued with key trends in the dance world, the department gives students opportunities to demonstrate their skills and planning abilities honed through practice and classes with creative presentations, ERICA dance art field training, and regular performances held in the first and second half of each year. This offers students a chance to slowly build their own creative world of art. Moreover, through interconnected and differentiated PBL classes for each grade, field-based theory classes, and teaching courses, the department enables students to enhance their understanding of underlying theories and build a foundation for growth as dance instructors and researchers.
Since its establishment in November 2010, the Department of Applied Music has grown into the best applied music program in Korea, producing outstanding talents in the domestic and international pop music scene.
Students form strong relationships with each other ever year, and are enjoying their lives on campus by sharing musical experiences and inspirations with each other.
Moreover, students spend time honing their principles and philosophies as artists through collaborations as well as on- and off-campus performances and interdisciplinary arts projects.
Every day, young prospective artists continue to unleash their innate curiosity and channel their artistic inspirations at the Muse Hall, a fantastic space for learning, to produce music.
All faculty members of the Department of Applied Music at Hanyang University are there to help students lead happy lives through the power of music.
