Department of Materials Science & Chemical Engineering
The department provides specialized and practical training in the fields of materials engineering and chemical engineering, as well as convergence studies in Nano Technology (NT), Bio Technology (BT), Information Technology (IT), and Environment and Energy Technology (ET).
Materials and chemical engineering is a discipline that studies materials, chemistry, physics, process development and design to create substances useful for human cultural life from various resources, and is widely related to various industrial fields, which makes it is a field of great academic value and demand from various industries.
Students majoring in materials and chemical engineering can advance into a number of different industries and research centers focusing on materials and chemical engineering, including semiconductors, petrochemicals, oil refining, electronics, automobiles, shipbuilding, medicine, polymers, aircraft, steel, environmental industries, and process automation.
The department is growing steadily as well. It was selected for the BK21 Plus Human Resources Development Project and CK-II Specialization Project, ranking 1st in the new materials and steel field in the 2012 Industry Perspective University Evaluation in the materials engineering field, and it ranked 6th nationwide in the 2013 JoongAng Ilbo University Evaluation in the field of chemical engineering. Hanyang University is doing its very best to help the department mature into a world-class department going forward.
