Department of Molecular Life Science

The Department of Molecular Life Science teaches subjects on the cutting-edge of life sciences essential in sustaining life, from the molecular level to cells and tissues. The department studies the structure and function of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and nucleic acids, which are essential components of life, and their metabolism in vivo. Here, students get to learn mechanisms related to metabolism and regulation in a living entity, and gain insight in the development, differentiation, and growth of tissues and living organisms.
To this end, the department has a curriculum that includes practical courses in biochemistry, molecular biology, metabolism, cell physiology, immunology, signal transduction and epigenetics, embryology, and biology.
With these programs, the department's goal academically is to produce expert researchers for the life sciences field, who are high in demand in today’s cutting-edge society. These researchers are expected to contribute to the development of life sciences in both Korea and abroad from for stakeholders in various industries, the academia, and research.
In order to train specialized researchers in the field of life sciences and to offer the theoretical teachings and laboratory training that are essential in producing researchers, each laboratory is equipped with the latest lab equipment and operates under the supervision of a full-time faculty member.
