Department of Marine Science and Convergence Engineering

The Department of Marine Science and Convergence Engineering combines the latest applied technologies in marine science and technology to explore the ocean, which is considered the ultimate treasure trove of humanity. The department merges basic marine science and technology with the latest applied technologies in (1) marine diagnostics and exploration engineering, (2) marine ecology and marine/fisheries biotechnology, (3) marine environment and climate change, (4) marine resources to train professionals who can play a pivotal role in building our maritime future.
To this end, the department offers extensive practical education out on the field.
In addition to providing field training in the ocean using ocean research vessels, the department also trains experts in processing and modeling ocean data trained with a stronger focus on computer programming.
The department is also proud of its specialized, cutting-edge convergence engineering education that differentiates it from marine science departments at other universities.
The department has two specialized training courses, including “Marine Diagnostics and Exploration Engineering” and “Marine Environment and Biotechnology.”
The program offers more robust training aboard research vessels, coastal marine training, and other practical training using the first water tank laboratory at a university in Korea and cutting-edge marine observation/analysis equipment.
Additionally, practical training led by industry experts and research institutes is available as well.
