Department of French Studies

“The Department of French Studies at Hanyang University is a department with an illustrious history that has produced numerous talented individuals in a variety of fields since its establishment in 1980.
Graduates of the department are renowned for their outstanding talent and diligence across a number of fields, including translation, interpretation, aviation, broadcasting, publishing, education, film, trade, and hospitality, and are actively involved in shaping our future.
The main goal of the department is to develop creative professionals in French studies suited to today’s era of internationalization through comprehensive and well-organized training on French language and culture.
The department has several special programs that are difficult to find in French-related departments at other universities.
Notable programs include the “Local semester at the University of Paris 8,” where students can immerse themselves in the French language and culture by studying abroad for one semester at the University of Paris 8, France, the “Summer Camp with French Professors,” which invites French professors to provide intensive French language education during the summer break, and “DELF Class,” a special program to help students prepare for the DELF test, which is an internationally recognized proficiency test for French.
Moreover, the department offers a variety of employment programs and, in conjunction with the college, it actively supports graduates to ensure a smooth transition into society and to help them advance their careers.
