Department of Industrial Design

Industrial design is a broad discipline closely related to a number of academic fields such as humanities and sociology, business administration, engineering, and aesthetics. It involves creative activities that determine the shape, structure, and functional characteristics of industrial products mass-produced by corporations.
The Department of Industrial Design works with the Department of Architecture to offer a convergence major (Department of Engineering's design engineering convergence major), creating an environment where students can grow their expertise in different types of design.
Industrial design is expected to contribute to the development of new living cultures and of industries in the tomorrow’s advanced information society through a range of interdisciplinary programs, collaboration, and insights into different lifestyles.
Upon graduation, some students may choose to work as designers involved in both the managerial and practical sides of design in domestic and overseas industries, whereas others may elect to start their own (venture) company specializing in design, or to pursue a career in academia.
