College of Communication
“The College of Communication trains creative and talented experts in advertising, public relations, and media in an information society with knowledge and skills in media, technology, and culture.
The college’s innovative and systematic curriculum helps students learn how to work with others and be empathetic during interactions. They can learn practical skills, including the ability to think strategically, plan creatively, and communicate effectively.
The Advertising and Public Relations major teaches the theory and practice behind successful advertising, public relations campaigns, and branded content in response to rapidly changing consumer and media trends. Meanwhile, the Media and Social Informatics major focuses on learning how to keep up with new trends in today’s era where information is managed using AI. In particular, the program offers insight into data science, data journalism, and informatics design.
Students at the College of Communication eventually learn what it takes to be a skillful content planner and producer, and they evolve into communication experts who are sorely needed in today’s society.
Aside from learning the theory behind effective communication, each major also offers Industry Coupled-Problem Based Learning (IC-PBL) classes to give students a chance to work with companies in the real world or address problems apparent in society.
Students participate in learning activities that give them a keener awareness of their field, boost their confidence, and provide motivation. Students can solve problems faced by companies and society over the course of these activities.
The college does its best to fulfill the mission of providing creative individuals who can communicate with our society and lead media-driven industries, individuals with the courage to dream and take on challenges enthusiastically, individuals with an unbiased, global-oriented, and open attitude, and talented individuals who know how to work well with others an opportunity to practice the university’s overarching value of “togetherness.”
The College of Communication always dreams of a better educational community that promotes the respect and mutual understanding between professors, students, and faculty members.
