Hanyang University's College of Design offers several advanced educational programs to train outstanding designers capable of producing designs in line with trends that shift and emerge so quickly these days.
The college, which promotes creative thinking, ranked 2nd in the nation in a university evaluation (design discipline), and it has signed MOUs with leading universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, China, Japan, and Taiwan as part of an internationalization program for interdisciplinary programs involving ‘Design Engineering’ to produce experts with a keen sense of trends emerging around the world, and therefore capable of working on the global stage.
Over the years, the college has built a stellar reputation at home and abroad by establishing a new trend in design that blends practicality and culture. The Department of Jewelry and Fashion Design offers programs that focus on jewelry, fashion, and fashion accessory fields, all of which are recognized for their growth potential going forward, to train multi-talented designers with the professional abilities required in design.
Furthermore, the department teaches students the skills to work internationally, and it develops the creativity, drive, sensitivity, and leadership in students to make sure they have the traits to produce striking designs.
The department has programs focusing on commercial jewelry, custom jewelry, jewelry CAD, clothing design, fashion accessory design, fashion material design, fashion art design, fashion coordination, fashion MD and VMD, and fashion promotion.
Upon graduating, students can advance into fields where they can produce, plan, and market stand-alone products or small batches of multiple products. They can become metal crafters, accessories artists and jewelry designers, product and container designers, daily items designers, or merchandisers in related fields.

Industrial design is a broad discipline closely related to a number of academic fields such as humanities and sociology, business administration, engineering, and aesthetics. It involves creative activities that determine the shape, structure, and functional characteristics of industrial products mass-produced by corporations.
The Department of Industrial Design works with the Department of Architecture to offer a convergence major (Department of Engineering's design engineering convergence major), creating an environment where students can grow their expertise in different types of design.
Industrial design is expected to contribute to the development of new living cultures and of industries in the tomorrow’s advanced information society through a range of interdisciplinary programs, collaboration, and insights into different lifestyles.
Upon graduation, some students may choose to work as designers involved in both the managerial and practical sides of design in domestic and overseas industries, whereas others may elect to start their own (venture) company specializing in design, or to pursue a career in academia.

The educational goal of the Department of Communication Design is to train professional designers with upstanding ethics, creativity, a keen eye for international trends, and a discerning eye for art as leaders in society.
It offers courses focused on visual information design, brand design, and packaging design, editorial design, brand package design, media design, computer graphic design, GUI design, and web media design.
Graduates who major in brand design, packaging design, CI design, and editorial design may go on to play an important role in the economy, culture, and society as they work at large corporations, professional design agencies, various small and medium-sized businesses, government agencies, broadcasting and media companies, or publishing companies.
Also, for capacity building purposes, students will be given an opportunity to study additional theories related to their major at Hanyang University or a famous graduate school overseas.

To help students secure a competitive advantage in the content industry led by emerging smart media and various interactive media, and to train design creators who could become leaders in the culture industry, the Department of Interactive Media offers a curriculum that combines various fields, including video design, smart media design, digital content, management, and engineering.
More specifically, the department has courses focused on new media, interactive media, mobile digital contents, smart media, motion graphics, game design, installation, storytelling, animation, 3DCG, game planning, stage video, and creative programming.
The department explores the rapidly changing world of new design by blending traditional art and design concepts with computer graphics technology, and opens up possibilities for a vastly different fields through expert and comprehensive design required in the real world. Graduates can expect to build a career specializing in various interactive smart media and smart devices, mobile, games, animation, digital contents, UI/UX, digital signage, media façade, stage design, performing arts design, and event videos.
